Your Virtual Triathlon League

VirtualTri is a structured, season-based triathlon league that gives you the flexibility to race on your own schedule — but with the motivation, accountability, and excitement of a real-world league.

Whether you’re training for your first triathlon or trying to stay race-ready year-round, we’ve got your back.

Seasonal Structure

We run four competitive seasons per year.

Each season includes:

  • 8 weekly virtual events

  • 1 official Virtual Race per month

  • Points-based rankings & Leaderboards

  • Trophies, medals, and digital awards

Season Calendar

  • Summer Season – Jan & Feb

  • Autumn Season – Apr & May

  • Winter Season – Jul & Aug

  • Spring Season – Oct & Nov

    (Off-seasons fall in March, June, September, and December)

How to Compete

Join a division based on your XP:

  • Social League (XP 0–39) – for beginners & leisure athletes

  • Elite League (XP 40–99) – for experienced, competitive athletes

Choose your distance each weekend:

  • Super Sprint

  • Sprint

  • Olympic

  • (Longer distances like Half or Full Iron when available)

Swim. Bike. Run. Submit.

  • Complete your race between Friday 06:00 and Sunday 20:00

  • Upload your results by Monday 10:00

  • Results are published every Tuesday

Points & Leaderboards

You earn points based on:

  • Your finishing position

  • The distance completed

  • Bonus actions like:

    • Doing an official timed race (like parkrun or Ironman)

    • Personal best performances

    • Streaks of consecutive events

    • Age group podiums

Weekly results + cumulative season standings are available on the app and emailed to participants.

Experience Points (XP)

Your XP is your experience level in the league — like levels in a game.

  • XP 0–39: Social League

  • XP 40–99: Elite League

  • XP is earned via onboarding (previous experience), racing, and achievements

The beauty of the XP system: you are entered into a league that suits YOUR ability. This ensures that you are constantly pushed, and can track your progress against other participants of similar ability!

Goals of the League

✔️ Motivate consistent racing and training

✔️ Introduce new athletes to triathlon

✔️ Offer structure for goal-setting

✔️ Build a community of like-minded people

✔️ Encourage real-world racing participation

✔️Offer a fun and effective approach to health improvement

Each season ends with:

  • Overall “Champ” titles

  • Age group winners and “Chasers” (the top threats for the title)

  • Elite trophies and medals

Digital badges are added, and will remain, on athlete profiles, showcasing your accomplishments and previous titles to your competitors.

Entry Options

Social League

  • Basic Entry: Digital certificate & virtual badge

  • Full Entry: Physical medal + digital features

Elite League

  • Full Entry Only: Physical medal, digital badge, trophies for winners

💳 PAYMENT OPTIONS:

  • Monthly ( 2 x easy installments)

  • Seasonal (discount for upfront payment)

  • Annual (get 4 seasons for the price of 3)

TSA members may qualify for further discounts in the near future. Watch this space!

Virtual Races

Once a month, we host an official Virtual Race that’s open to everyone — including non-league athletes.

  • Test yourself against more athletes

  • Open to the public

  • League members get free basic entry (optional medals available)

  • Results count toward your league standings

  • These are great for new athletes to “try a tri” without committing to the full season
